Recording Guidelines
1. Preparation
Rehearse your poem before recording. You do not need to memorize your work, nor do you need to submit your first take, so feel free to take as much time to prepare for your recording as you would like.
Choose a quiet location free from background noise. For video submissions, ensure the background is clean and uncluttered.
2. Equipment
Use a good quality microphone. Your phone, tablet, and computer microphones will suffice, but feel free to use external microphones if you feel that it will capture your audio more clearly.
For video, use a high-resolution camera. Your phone, tablet, and computer cameras will suffice, but feel free to use a professional camera if you feel that it will capture your video more clearly. Ensure it is stable, either on a tripod or a secure surface.
For video, please keep your videos bright, but avoid any excessively harsh shadows. Natural light can be great, but ensure it is consistent.
3. Editing
Yes, at Mängata, editing is allowed! Feel free to add visual effects or auditory effects to your submissions if you feel that it would enhance your performance. However, please note that you will not be given an advantage solely due to your editing, and you will absolutely not be at a disadvantage for not editing your submission. We would simply like to give the freedom to do so, if that is what the art call for.
